We’ve just done auditions for The Company Ensemble (look out for the cast announcement for The Greek Project on the website soon), this week we’re doing The 24 Hour Butoh Project auditions and in two weeks time we’ll be auditioning for The Verbatim Project. Make sure you keep up to date with all the excitement and audition opportunities on our website!
We’re in full swing and beginning preparations for our first major production of the year – The 24 Hour Butoh Project. Working with me on the project is our fantastic Turner School tutor Errenn Ball and Yarno Rohling, who is one of our longest attending CYT members and will be doing work experience on this show. Training for the Project begins in the middle of March when the cast will spend an intensive weekend at CYT working with Butoh specialist Noa Rotem. This will give everyone involved the tools to create the works on the day of the performance. Fast and furious processes like this are an amazing way to make theatre, there’s no time to worry about anything and a lot more willingness to take risks. We’re so looking forward to what this brilliant bunch of 7 – 12 year old artists will create. Put the date in your diaries – Saturday 2 April, 7pm, C Block Theatre!
Workshops have begun and it’s been so fab to see everyone back at CYT along with a lot of fresh new faces. I’ve been doing my visits and have almost seen everyone and I’m already getting a taste for the sort of performances we might have in store at the end of semester.
I’d like to welcome Jess Baker, our shiny new Administration and Marketing Officer, to the CYT office. Jess has been tutoring with us since last year and has slotted into the office without a hitch. Check out our staff profiles in this newsletter to find out more about Jess’ musical theatre background!
Have a wonderful March everyone, enjoy the new colours on the trees!
